The United States has directly rejected India's assertion regarding the recently signed ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce explicitly stated, "We played the primary role" in bringing an end to the conflict.
During a regular press briefing in Washington on Tuesday, July 8, Bruce declared that Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri's statement was incorrect. Misri had claimed before India's parliamentary foreign affairs committee that the ceasefire decision was entirely bilateral and implemented without any external interference.
Tammy Bruce emphasized, "Everyone is free to express their own opinion, but India's position on this matter is wrong. The role we played through negotiations is clear and effective." She further noted that both U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance played crucial roles in de-escalating the tension.
Bruce highlighted, "The Trump administration deliberately pursued this path of mediation, and it yielded results. President Trump has taken various steps for peace; his actions are transparent and clear to everyone." She reiterated that Marco Rubio has stated multiple times, "We played a significant role in this ceasefire."
The press conference also revealed that the U.S. is actively working towards establishing peace in Gaza. Bruce stated, "This effort aims to form a future administration that excludes Hamas." Additionally, she confirmed that the U.S. remains actively engaged in peace efforts to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
