In Sirajnogor Noiachhar, Adiabad Union, Raypura Upazila, Narsingdi, two sisters have been living confined at home for a year due to a land dispute. Among them, 35-year-old Kamrunnahar Begum is disabled, and elder sister Tashlima Begum is 52.
Locals said their brother Kamruzzaman Kamal blocked the entrance to their house, leaving them effectively trapped. Kamrunnahar has not been able to go outside for a year, while Tashlima uses a plank to move around partially.
Tashlima said, “After our parents died, our brother has been focused on our property. About a year ago, he blocked the road, making our life extremely difficult. My younger sister cannot go outside at all.”
Kamrunnahar said she became disabled due to polio at one year old but wants to live a normal life. She added, “But my brother blocked the way. In such a situation, I feel dying is better than living.”
The brother expressed anger toward journalists and threatened anyone attempting to help. Local UP member Gazi Majharul Islam Palash said multiple attempts at mediation failed and the issue requires administrative intervention.
