Two killed, three seriously injured in cocktail explosion in Chapainawabganj

In Charbagdanga Union’s Fattapara village in Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, two people were killed and three seriously injured during the preparation of a homemade cocktail bomb. The incident occurred at 5:00 AM on Friday (14 February).

Police and local sources reported that several individuals were preparing explosive devices at the house of Md. Kalam in Fattapara. Suddenly, an explosion occurred, killing two unidentified persons at the scene and causing panic in the surrounding area.

Those seriously injured include Md. Bazlur Rahman (20), Md. Minhaj (22), and Md. Shuvo (20). They were immediately taken to Chapainawabganj District Hospital, and after initial treatment, transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced care.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. Additional police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces have been deployed around the site. The law and order situation is currently under control.

ANM Wasim Firoz, Additional Superintendent of Police at Chapainawabganj Model Police Station, said the injured were believed to be involved in the cocktail preparation. The cause of the explosion and underlying motives are under investigation, with legal actions ongoing.
