Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC has introduced a new registration system to help its suppliers and partners manage business confidentiality more effectively. The initiative aims to encourage innovation and further strengthen the company’s competitive advantage.
Since its launch in 2013, the registration system has stored over 610,000 technology- and knowledge-based records as of the end of July. The system is integrated with human resources and IT platforms and leverages artificial intelligence to assist in project monitoring, collaborative development with external partners, and talent identification.
TSMC’s Co-Chief Advisor, Fortune Hsieh, stated that if suppliers adopt this registration system, it will foster a culture of innovation and support systematic management, ultimately benefiting TSMC.
Addressing concerns about whether such a vast data repository could become a target for hackers, Hsieh said, “Cybersecurity has been a fundamental consideration since the company’s inception. Data security processes and automated encryption ensure that even if hackers access the data, they cannot read it.”
However, TSMC recently reported a data theft incident, highlighting the challenges companies face in protecting their proprietary technology. Lawyer Jin Wang noted that registration systems like this are critical for research- and development-driven companies, as they make it easier to provide evidence in disputes and reduce the time needed to locate information.
Experts have hailed TSMC’s move as a groundbreaking step in promoting innovation and safeguarding sensitive information.
