Taskin and Mostafiz Returning Home After Strong Performances in IL T20

On Wednesday (24 December) night, Mostafizur’s Dubai Capitals faced Taskin’s Sharjah Warriors in a key league match at Dubai International Stadium, marking the conclusion of their IL T20 campaigns.

Taskin shared a selfie with Mostafizur on his Facebook page during their flight home, expressing his excitement and readiness to perform in the BPL.

Mostafizur Rahman was in excellent form during the IL T20, taking 15 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 8.08, making him the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. On 21 December at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, he earned the Player of the Match award for taking three wickets in one over against the Gulf Giants. His slower balls and cutters posed a significant challenge to top-level batters. He played a crucial role in helping Dubai Capitals secure a playoff spot.

Taskin Ahmed, playing for Sharjah Warriors, took 9 wickets in 6 matches. While his statistics were slightly behind, his aggressive bowling stood out. On 20 December, against Desert Vipers, he achieved a memorable milestone, marking his 200th T20 match, with 2 wickets for just 20 runs in 4 overs. He also impressed during the powerplay against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Though his death-over economy was 8.76, he carried the responsibility of being the team’s main pace attack.

In the points table, Desert Vipers top with 14 points. Mostafizur’s Dubai Capitals have secured a playoff spot with 10 points, while Taskin’s Sharjah Warriors are near the bottom with 6 points from 9 matches. Sharjah’s playoff hopes now depend on a significant final-match win and results of other games, with net run rate being decisive.
