FIFA has announced the final list of referees for the 2026 World Cup after three years of evaluation.

The list includes 52 main referees, 88 assistant referees, and 30 video match officials.

FIFA said referees were selected based on consistent performance in domestic and international football.

The tournament will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, with more officials than previous editions.

FIFA Referees Committee Chairman Pierluigi Collina said selected officials are among the best in the world.

New technologies will include advanced goal-line systems, semi-automated offside technology, and “connected ball” technology.

For the first time, referee body cameras are planned to allow viewers to see from referees’ perspectives.

AI-based tools will help stabilize video footage.

New rules will also aim to reduce time-wasting and improve game speed.

FIFA hopes the 2026 World Cup will be more transparent and enjoyable.
