Student League Stages Sit-in at IU Demanding Justice for Brilliant Student Sajid’s Murder: 10-Day Ultimatum

At Islamic University, the student wing of the Bangladesh Student League (Chhatra Dal) staged a sit-in demanding the swift trial of Shahid Sajid Abdullah, a student of the Al-Quran and Islamic Studies Department, the arrest of his killers, and the removal of pro-Awami teachers from the recruitment board.

The program took place on Tuesday (7 October) at 12:00 PM in front of the university administration building. Over a hundred activists participated under the leadership of branch convener Sahed Ahmed and member secretary Masud Rumi Mithun.

During the sit-in, the activists claimed that the administration was wasting time without arresting the killers and that fascist influences still prevailed at the university. The Student League warned that if the administration failed to take prompt action, they would launch stronger measures after 17 October. They strongly urged the administration to ensure merit-based seat allocation and a safe campus environment.
