The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen stated that the Southern Transitional Council (STC) leader, Aidarus al-Zubaidi, left the country secretly with UAE help, skipping peace talks in Riyadh. He traveled via Aden to Berbera in Somaliland and then to Mogadishu, Somalia.
The move increases tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council dismissed al-Zubaidi for “high treason,” and the Attorney General was ordered to investigate. Saudi officials claimed the STC delegation had constructive discussions in Riyadh, while al-Zubaidi remains politically isolated.
