Rumors of Ilias Kanchan’s Death on Social Media Denied; He is Under Treatment in London

Recent rumors of the death of popular actor and founder of the ‘Safe Roads Now’ (Nirapad Sarak Chai) movement, Ilias Kanchan, have been circulating on social media. His son and Nischay (NSC) acting chairman Mirazul Moin Joy has urged the public not to be misled by these false reports.

In a statement on Friday, Joy said, “My father is currently unwell and undergoing treatment. His medical care is proceeding regularly. Please do not believe any rumors, and everyone in the country is requested to pray for his speedy recovery.”

Joy further added, “Upon hearing about my father’s illness, supporters of ‘Safe Roads Now,’ fans, and ordinary citizens both inside and outside the country have sincerely prayed for him. Especially during today’s Jumma prayers, prayer gatherings were organized in various locations. On behalf of our family, we are grateful to them.”

Expressing disappointment at the misleading actions of some YouTubers and Facebook users, Joy said, “Some videos are being published merely to gain a few views, which is hurting people and causing distress to his fans. We strongly condemn such actions.”

Currently, Ilias Kanchan is receiving treatment at Harley Street Clinic in London. In August, he underwent brain surgery, during which part of a tumor was removed. Due to risk factors, the entire tumor could not be removed. He is now undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, scheduled five days a week for six weeks, followed by four weeks of monitoring by doctors.

According to close family sources, the continuous treatment has caused him some mental fatigue. His son-in-law said, “My father was always an active person. Suddenly being confined at home and the exhaustion from treatment have made him somewhat weak. However, he is fully aware of everything and wishes to recover quickly and return to the country.”

The entertainment community has also expressed concern for his recovery. Actress Rozina said, “He is dear to all of us. We all pray for his speedy recovery.” Additionally, a special prayer event organized by the actors’ association saw all artists praying for Ilias Kanchan’s health, hoping he will recover and return among them.
