Bangladesh’s popular rock band Mechanics is preparing to celebrate its 20-year musical journey with the release of a new album. However, the celebration has been overshadowed by unexpected news for fans: two long-time members of the band—guitarist Saif Irfan and bassist Soumik Islam—have left the current lineup.
In an official announcement on social media, Mechanics stated that these two musicians, who played a significant role in the band’s history, are no longer part of the active lineup. The band also expressed gratitude for their contributions, highlighting their shared stage experiences and musical journey.
In the same announcement, the band introduced their upcoming album titled “Ogyota” (The Unworthy). According to the band, the album is not just a collection of songs but a musical story of emotion, struggle, self-expression, and a new beginning. It is expected to mark a new chapter in Mechanics’ career.
Band co-founder and vocalist Aftabuzzaman Tridib said that member changes are not unusual in a long musical journey. He noted that Saif and Soumik joined the band in 2018 and contributed significantly over the past eight years. However, due to differences in coordination and personal commitments, they decided to leave the band officially.
Regarding the new album, Tridib said “Ogyota” will be the band’s second full-length album, containing 10 tracks. Two songs titled “Ogyota” and “Kholnayok” have already been released, while the remaining tracks will be published gradually over the coming months.
The band also announced that new members will be revealed soon, indicating that Mechanics is preparing to continue its musical journey with renewed energy despite the lineup change.
With both farewell and anticipation surrounding the band’s two-decade milestone, fan interest in Mechanics is now at its peak.
