Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has returned to her career after motherhood, but this time she is redefining her work choices and schedule. After becoming a mother to her first child in September last year, Deepika has set a condition that she will not work more than eight hours a day on set.
In a recent interview with CNBC-TV18, she stated that while the Indian film industry is called an art, it has never been systematically organized. She said, “Male stars have been working 8 hours a day for years, yet it never makes the news. Now it is time to bring some rules and discipline to the industry.”
Because of this decision, Deepika has stepped back from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’ and the sequel to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. She did not want to spend long hours on set and instead wished to spend more time with her daughter. When the production houses were unable to accommodate her request, she voluntarily withdrew from the projects.
Currently, she is busy shooting ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand, where she will be seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan. Additionally, Deepika will star opposite Allu Arjun in a new film directed by Atlee.
Deepika’s move has sparked a new discussion in Bollywood about balancing motherhood and career. The actress has clearly emphasized the need for rules, discipline, and planning within the industry.
