In the first 20 days of the current September, Bangladeshi expatriates sent $190.3 million in remittances to the country, averaging $9.51 million per day.
Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, confirmed the information. He noted that during the same period last year, the country received $161.4 million in remittances. Additionally, $13.3 million was remitted to Bangladesh over the three days from September 18 to 20.
From the start of the current fiscal year until September 20, a total of $680.3 million in remittances has been received, which is 18.30% higher than the same period last year. In August, the country received $242.189 million, and in July, $247.8 million.
In the 2024–25 fiscal year, total remittances to Bangladesh amounted to $3,032.8 million (30.32 billion), marking the highest remittance income in a single fiscal year in the country’s history.
