Rangpur Dominates NCL, Wins ‘Double’ in Domestic Cricket

They defeated Khulna by seven wickets with one day to spare, topping the points table. When the Sylhet–Barishal match ended in a draw on Tuesday, Rangpur’s championship was confirmed. Sylhet needed to win to surpass Rangpur, but they couldn’t chase the tough target set by Barishal, resulting in a draw and confirming Rangpur as champions.

In Barishal’s second innings, opener Iftikhar Hossain Ifti scored a fighting 128* to set a challenging target for Sylhet. Despite half-centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim (53) and Asadullah Al Galib (61*), Sylhet could not achieve the required pace. Rangpur finished with 31 points, Sylhet second with 28 points.

In another match, Rajshahi defeated Mymensingh by 146 runs at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Despite a brilliant innings from Mymensingh pacer Abu Haydar Rony—141* off 127 balls with 10 fours and 13 sixes—the team lost, as spinner Sanjamul Islam’s 5/88 turned the match in Rajshahi’s favor.

Rangpur’s success adds a new chapter to domestic cricket, achieving both T20 and NCL titles, making the season memorable.
