The results of the recently resumed primary scholarship examination, which had been reintroduced after a long break, will not be published on the scheduled date. Although the results were planned to be published on May 21, they are now likely to be released in the first week of June, according to the Directorate of Primary Education.

On Tuesday, Deputy Director of the administration department of the Directorate, A. S. M. Sirajuddoha, told the media that although preparations are ongoing, publication on the scheduled date is not possible. Authorities expect the results to be published after Eid.

The primary scholarship examination for the current year began on April 14 and ended on April 18. The reintroduction of this exam after nearly 17 years created significant enthusiasm among students and parents.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education published a full guideline and schedule before the exam. It included instructions regarding exam center management, code of conduct, and other regulations.

According to the schedule, exams were held in Bengali, English, Mathematics, Bangladesh and Global Studies, and Primary Science. However, some adjustments were made in the schedule for the three hill districts—Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban.

The policy states that scholarships will be awarded in two categories: Talent Pool and General. Male and female students will be selected in equal numbers in the merit list. Additionally, 80% of total scholarships are reserved for government primary school students, while the remaining 20% are for non-government school students.

Education officials believe that the return of the scholarship exam after a long gap will increase students’ competitive mindset and interest in studies.
