According to the army, the deceased were members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or its affiliated groups.
In a statement issued on Friday (July 4), the Pakistani military said that the militants were killed over the past three days during counter-terrorism operations. The statement also praised the army for averting a "potential disaster."
According to reports, last week a faction of the Pakistani Taliban carried out a suicide bombing in North Waziristan, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing 16 Pakistani soldiers. Just days after that incident, the army claimed to have killed 30 militants in the same region.
While the military's statement did not provide detailed information about the operations, it said a "large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives" was recovered.
Following the incident, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office declared, “We are fully committed to eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country.”
Both the Prime Minister and the military have accused India of supporting these militants. New Delhi has not yet responded to Islamabad’s latest allegations.
