 PNN News Desk | Dhaka:
One person was killed and five others, including a child, were injured in a septic tank explosion in the Bhadhail Dakshinpara area of Ashulia, Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Golam Rabbani (50), a tenant of the house who was also responsible for its management.
Among the injured are Rabbani’s wife Faria Begum Ratna (45), daughter Ishrat Jahan Riya (18), the homeowner’s wife Sonia Akhter (35), her son Md. Rohan (7), and a sanitation worker Iman Ali (45) who had come to clean the septic tank.

Iman Ali, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while the others were treated at Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College Hospital in Savar.

According to the DEPZ Fire Service, the explosion occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday while the septic tank was being cleaned. The blast caused a wall and the tin roof of the house to collapse, destroying one room completely. Golam Rabbani died on the spot.

Pranab Chowdhury, senior station officer of the DEPZ Fire Service, said the explosion was likely caused by pressure buildup from accumulated gas inside the concrete-covered septic tank.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdul Hannan said the body would be handed over to the family without an autopsy, as per their request. Legal procedures are underway.
