U.S. chipmaker NVIDIA and artificial intelligence company OpenAI announced on Monday that NVIDIA will supply data center chips to OpenAI and invest up to $100 billion. Through this deal, OpenAI will be able to purchase advanced chips and advance its artificial intelligence projects.

The agreement includes NVIDIA’s non-voting share investment and chip supply arrangements. Experts say this partnership could reduce competition and raise concerns among competitors. In the first phase of the deal, NVIDIA will invest $10 billion and begin supplying computing power for the first gigawatt on the “Vera Rubin” platform in the second half of 2026.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated, “Compute halls are the foundation of the future economy, and we will work with NVIDIA to create new AI innovations and apply them for business and people.”
