As part of their nationwide 'July Padayatra' (March) program, central leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) visited the Charmonai Pir Saheb's Darbar (spiritual court) in Barishal last night, Monday (July 14). There, they exchanged views with leaders of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and discussed various political issues.
The NCP's march is taking place today, Tuesday (July 15), in Barishal city. The procession is scheduled to start in front of Amrita Lal Dey College on Hospital Road and conclude at Fazlul Haque Avenue, where a brief rally is expected to be held. NCP Convenor Md. Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhter Hossain, central leaders Hasnat Abdullah, and Sarjish Alam, among other top leaders, are leading this march.
Earlier on Monday, NCP leaders completed their marches in Patuakhali and Barguna before arriving in Barishal at night. They then immediately proceeded to the Charmonai Darbar to meet with leaders of Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Islami Andolan Secretary-General Maulana Syed Esahak Muhammad Abul Khair and Assistant Publicity and Dawah Secretary K.M. Shariat Ullah, along with other leaders, welcomed the NCP delegation.
Later, the NCP leaders paid a courtesy call on Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, Senior Nayeb-e-Amir of Islami Andolan. During this meeting, the two sides discussed the current political situation in the country, the context of the July movement, and issues of mutual cooperation.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim stated, "Last year, when the anti-Hasina movement was at its peak in July, we supported that movement. We still uphold the spirit of the July movement."
NCP Convenor Md. Nahid Islam said, "As part of the July Padayatra, we are visiting historical sites or traditional institutions in the areas we travel to. Following that tradition, we came to Charmonai today."
