NCP leader attacked in Lisbon, video goes viral

A video of an attack on Md. Akhtar Hossain, organizational secretary of Sylhet district unit of the National Citizens Party (NCP), in Lisbon, Portugal has gone viral on social media. The video surfaced on Facebook on Saturday morning.

It is not confirmed exactly when the video was recorded. However, in a Facebook post at around 9 AM Bangladesh time on Saturday, Akhtar Hossain alleged he was attacked.

In the post, he claimed that after leaving a meeting with NCP officials in Portugal, several Chhatra League activists attacked him.

The video shows him speaking in a park when a young man suddenly throws an egg at him, followed by others also throwing eggs. The situation escalates into pushing and scuffling before he leaves the area.

Several Bangladeshi expatriates in Portugal said the incident occurred during a recent visit to Lisbon. However, the accused parties could not be contacted for comments.

NCP leaders in Sylhet condemned the incident, calling it alarming and alleging a planned attack. The party issued a statement demanding unity and vigilance among members at home and abroad.
