Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has taken a tough stance on terrorist activities and attacks on law enforcement in Jungle Salimpur in Chattogram. He said that militants in Jungle Salimpur are trying to maintain their old dominance, but the government will not tolerate it under any circumstances.

At a briefing held Tuesday afternoon at Police Headquarters, he said, “The audacity and defiant behavior seen in Jungle Salimpur will be controlled very strictly.”

The briefing was organized to present the government’s preparations regarding highway security, cattle markets, and overall law and order ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

In response to questions about recent attacks on RAB and police, the Home Minister said the government is closely monitoring incidents in Jungle Salimpur and other areas. He claimed that the area had effectively developed into a “state within a state” for a long time, but law enforcement has now been able to control the situation.

He said joint operations have recovered weapons and arrested several wanted criminals. The government also plans to establish a police academy, RAB academy, and sports complex in the area.

He added that no safe haven for criminals will be allowed anywhere in the country and all necessary measures will be taken for maintaining law and order.

Regarding Eid security, he said surveillance and security measures have been strengthened nationwide seven days before and after Eid. Highways are under continuous monitoring and additional manpower has been deployed.

Expressing grief over the recent road accident in Tangail that killed 15 people, he said many accidents can be avoided if passengers and drivers become more aware.

He also said fake currency detection machines have been provided at cattle markets with the help of banks to prevent counterfeit notes. Authorities have been instructed to strictly close unauthorized cattle markets.

He added that city corporations, district administrations, and municipalities have been instructed to remove sacrificial animal waste within 24 hours.

He also said the government is considering introducing automated systems at toll plazas to reduce traffic congestion.

Regarding border issues, he said occasional gunfire incidents are being resolved through flag meetings and there is no national-level concern.

On allegations of open drug dealing in Savar, he said the government will take immediate action if specific information is received.
