NBR launches 100% online services for Utilization Permission

To modernize and simplify customs bond management, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has decided to provide all services related to Utilization Permission (UP) fully online through the Customs Bond Management System (CBMS) software. From Thursday, issuing UPs and related processes under CBMS software have become mandatory.

According to a press release from NBR, with the new system, bonded warehouse license holders can obtain UP for duty-free raw material imports online from the respective customs bond commissionerate, eliminating the need to physically visit customs offices.

Through CBMS, UP applications, necessary verification, and approval processes are now fully digital. This is expected to save time and make administrative procedures more efficient. NBR believes the online system will enhance transparency and accountability, reduce complications of paper-based processes, and minimize personal intervention.

Once CBMS is fully operational, the number of bond-related disputes and cases is expected to significantly decrease, positively impacting the country’s business and export sectors.
