More than a hundred supporters, leaders, activists and lawyers of the Awami League have joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) under the leadership of Gazipur Bar lawyer Advocate Sajeduzzaman Bhuiyan.
The formal joining ceremony was held on Sunday night (February 8) at the Gazipur Club in Gazipur Metropolitan City.
During the event, the new members officially joined the BNP by presenting flowers to BNP-nominated candidates for the two Gazipur constituencies and Gazipur Metropolitan BNP General Secretary M. Manjurul Karim Rony.
Speaking at the event, Advocate Sajeduzzaman Bhuiyan said that he joined BNP politics inspired by the dream of a “new Bangladesh” that has emerged among ordinary people since August 5. He added that he made this decision with the determination to play an active role in restoring democracy and people’s rights in the country.
Among those present at the ceremony were Gazipur Metropolitan BNP former Joint Convener Advocate Abdus Salam Shamim, Metro Thana BNP President Advocate Mehedi Hasan Elis, former President Councillor Hasan Azmal Bhuiyan, former Vice President A.K.M. Mofazzal Hossain, and former Joint Secretary G.S. Md. Nasimul Islam Monir.
Also present were Metropolitan Jubo Dal Member Secretary Mahmud Hasan Raju, Joint Convener Syed Farhaz Bin Foyez Prabal, Metropolitan Chhatra Dal Convener Rohanuzzaman Shukkur, Metropolitan Ward No. 29 BNP General Secretary Advocate Mahbub Alam Mollas, along with leaders and activists from various BNP affiliate organizations.
BNP leaders expressed hope that the newly joined members would strengthen the party’s organizational base in Gazipur and have a positive impact on upcoming political programs.
