From Menlo Park, California, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday announced the company’s next-generation AI-powered wearable device: smart glasses with a small display embedded inside the lens.
The new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses will reduce the need to look at your phone, allowing users to manage messages, photos, videos, calls, and other online activities directly through the glasses. Zuckerberg said, “The glasses are the ideal medium for personal super-intelligence. They allow the user to be present in the moment while leveraging AI capabilities.”
Through the display inside the right lens, users can send messages, view photos or videos, watch Instagram Reels, and even make video calls. The glasses also feature real-time navigation, live captioning, and translation. When users ask questions to the Meta AI Assistant, the information will appear on the display, and responses can also be heard via audio.
The new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses will be available in limited retail in the United States from September 30 at a price of $799. In addition, Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban Gen 2 smart glasses, the new Meta Oakley Vanguard sports glasses, and a new experience for the Quest 3 virtual reality headset.
These new smart glasses from Meta are designed to integrate more naturally into users’ daily lives while offering a seamless and practical experience.
