The government has announced a seven-day holiday for public servants on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha. At the same time, the previously announced academic calendar for educational institutions remains unchanged.
A press release issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday night confirmed the information.
The notification stated that as part of adjusting the Eid holiday schedule, the weekly holiday on Saturday, May 23, has been cancelled. All government offices will remain open on that day, and officials and employees must be present at their workplaces.
While changes have been made in government office holidays, there will be no change in the academic calendar for educational institutions.
According to the 2026 academic calendar, summer vacation and Eid-ul-Azha holidays for primary, junior secondary, and secondary schools will begin on May 24 and continue until June 4. Including weekly holidays, students will enjoy a continuous 16-day break.
Similarly, college-level institutions will have a 12-day official break, which will extend to 16 days including weekly holidays.
Madrasa students will have a longer break starting May 24 and ending on June 11, totaling 21 days including weekly holidays.
Officials say the long vacation will allow students to spend time with family during Eid as well as rest and engage in personal activities. Preparations are being made to resume classes on schedule after the holiday.
