At least 11 passengers were injured when the Kurigram Express train collided with a stone-laden truck at a railway gate near Baropukuria coal mine in Parbatipur, Dinajpur. Train movement was disrupted for several hours after the accident.

The accident occurred early Tuesday morning while the Kurigram Express, traveling from Dhaka to Kurigram, was crossing the Baropukuria railway gate. The truck driver and assistant fled the scene after the collision, according to locals.

The injured passengers were quickly taken to Fulbari Hospital for treatment. Several of the injured were reportedly on the roof of the train.

The incident was confirmed by Rezaul Islam, who said the train was stuck at the site for about five hours before rescue operations restored rail communication.

Eyewitness Lutfur Rahman said he heard a loud noise near the railway gate while going out for Fajr prayer and later saw injured passengers screaming at the scene.

Locals alleged negligence by the gatekeeper, claiming the gate was not closed in time, allowing the truck onto the tracks.

However, railway authorities have not made any official comment. An investigation into the cause is underway.
