Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israel is seeking an opportunity to attack Iran, and any such move could further destabilize the region. Fidan issued this warning in an interview with the Turkish broadcaster NTV on Friday.

He said, “I hope they will find another path, but the reality is that, especially, Israel is looking for an opportunity to strike Iran.”

He further mentioned that he recently met Iranian officials in Tehran and warned them about the situation as a friend. “When I went to Tehran, I told them everything as a friend, and a friend also tells harsh truths,” Fidan commented.

Just before Fidan’s warning, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke on the phone with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian. Erdoğan stated that Turkey does not support any foreign intervention and values Iran’s peace and stability.

On the other hand, a senior Iranian official said, “If anyone attacks us, we will consider it a full-scale war and respond forcefully.” He added that all of the country’s armed forces are prepared to handle the worst-case scenario.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the U.S. Navy has been deployed to the Gulf region with specific targets set on Iran. For this purpose, the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its strike group have been sent to the Middle East.

Analysts believe that the diplomatic warnings from Turkey and Iran, combined with the U.S. naval deployment, could further escalate tensions in Iran and across the Middle East.
