Amid potential U.S. military threats, Iran has stated that it is maintaining the highest level of preparedness to protect its national sovereignty. At the same time, Tehran has emphasized that diplomatic communication at the regional level has been strengthened to avoid a new conflict.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghai, stated that on Friday, the country’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, will visit Turkey, where he will participate in high-level meetings. Baghai said that strengthening relations with neighboring countries based on mutual interests is a diplomatic priority for Iran.

This visit comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has referred to the deployment of a naval fleet near Iran’s coastal areas as an “armada.” The U.S. Navy, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, is positioned close to Iran.

Meanwhile, persistent hardline messages are coming from Iran’s political, military, and judicial leadership. Kazem Gharibabadi, a senior member of Iran’s negotiating team, told state media, “Currently, negotiations with the United States are not the priority; rather, the main goal is defending the country with full preparedness.” He added that while some messages are exchanged through intermediaries, Iran is fully ready to respond to any potential attack.

Recently, Iran has also highlighted its military capabilities. On Thursday, the Iranian military announced that its fleet has been equipped with a thousand new strategic drones. These drones include suicide, combat, surveillance, and cyber-capable technologies, capable of striking targets on land, in the air, and at sea.

Army Chief Amir Hamati stated that considering the potential threat level, increasing rapid response and defensive capabilities is part of the strategic planning of the military. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had previously stated that, if necessary, they are capable of striking U.S. and Israeli interests.

Alongside the firm stance, public concern is growing. Residents of Tehran and other cities have expressed that in the event of another war, ordinary civilians will bear the highest cost. One student said, “Another war means destruction and loss of lives. We don’t want more bloodshed.”

In anticipation of a potential conflict, the government is also intensifying civilian preparedness. Governors of border provinces have been given the authority to import emergency supplies. The Tehran City Corporation has announced plans to construct underground shelters in the future, although implementation will take time, authorities said.

Meanwhile, many are also concerned about possible disruptions in communications. During recent protests and previous conflicts, internet and mobile networks were shut down, which had a significant impact on daily life.

Analysts suggest that if the tension between Iran and the United States escalates into violence, it could have catastrophic consequences not just for the two countries but for the entire region. Therefore, diplomacy is considered the only viable path to prevent conflict, experts say.
