Iran has demanded compensation for damages caused by attacks from the United States and Israel. At the same time, Tehran has accused several regional countries of facilitating the attacks by allowing their territories to be used.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations presented this position on Tuesday (April 14), according to official sources.

Iran stated that as a possible method of compensation, it is considering imposing a special tax on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said that the total damage since the beginning of the conflict is preliminarily estimated at around 270 billion USD, although a full assessment is still ongoing.

Iran claims that key sectors such as oil and gas infrastructure, petrochemicals, steel, and aluminum industries have been severely damaged. Military installations have also suffered significant losses.

Additionally, infrastructure including bridges, ports, railways, universities, research centers, power plants, and water treatment facilities have been affected. Hospitals, schools, and residential buildings have also been damaged.

The aviation sector has also been heavily impacted. According to the Iran Airlines Association, around 60 civilian aircraft are now inoperable, including 20 that have been completely destroyed.

Due to economic challenges and international sanctions, affected airlines are facing significant revenue losses, and several international airports have also reported damage.

Despite the losses, Iran has indicated it is unwilling to make major concessions in talks with the United States, especially regarding its nuclear program and strategic interests.

Analysts believe that Iran’s stance could further complicate the already tense situation in the Middle East.
