Iran launched a military operation targeting Kurdish groups along the Iran-Iraq border. Simultaneously, it initiated the 19th phase of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli positions in the Middle East, further escalating regional tensions.

State media Press TV reported that the attack targeted “anti-Iran separatist forces,” without specifying exact locations. Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence stated that the operation struck bases of separatist groups attempting to infiltrate from the western border, causing significant casualties. The ministry also claimed cooperation with “loyal Kurds” to counter plans of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

On Friday, strikes occurred in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region. Local sources reported multiple explosions in Arabat, Zarquiz, and Surdash areas of Sulaymaniyah Province. The attacks targeted the headquarters of the Iranian Kurdish armed group Komala.

Recently, Kurdish groups along the Iran-Iraq border have consulted with the United States on how to attack Iranian security forces in western Iran and what assistance they might receive. However, Tasnim News Agency confirmed that Kurdish fighters have not yet entered Iran.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced new attacks in the Middle East targeting U.S. and Israeli positions. Israel’s air defense reportedly intercepted two drones over Western Galilee. Saudi Arabia intercepted three drones, and Qatar ordered people evacuated from areas near the U.S. embassy.

Explosions were reported in Tehran and Kurdish cities such as Sanandaj, Saqez, and Bukan. Al Jazeera reporter Toheed Asadi noted, “Another series of attacks began from midnight. Loud explosions and shockwaves were felt from the eastern parts of the city, and since Saturday, attacks have occurred in over 150 cities across Iran.”

Residents have begun leaving Tehran, although many remain, living in fear, anxiety, and uncertainty amid ongoing attacks.

These strikes and counterstrikes have intensified tensions among Iran, Israel, and the United States, increasing the complexity of conflicts in the Middle East.
