The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested Indian national Uttam Haldar (39) from the Baulia area of Jessore Sadar with 10 bottles of foreign liquor. The incident was confirmed by Lt. Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of the 49th Jessore Battalion, on Saturday (20 September).
According to BGB sources, acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted around 6:15 AM on Saturday on the Jessore–Narail road in Baulia. During the search of Uttam Haldar’s bag, 10 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered, cleverly concealed.
The arrested individual informed the BGB that the liquor was intended to be smuggled from India to Dhaka via Jessore for the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
A case has been filed against Uttam Haldar, and he has been handed over to Jessore Kotwali Police Station. He hails from Satbhai Kalitala village under Bongaon Police Station in North 24 Parganas district, India, and is the son of Jibon Haldar
