PNN News Desk | Dhaka:
The undergraduate admission test for the 2025-26 academic session at the University of Dhaka (DU) will be held at least two months earlier than last year. To ensure students can take the exams comfortably amid the national election scheduled for February 2026, the university authorities aim to complete the admission process within this year.
A source associated with the admission test said that preliminary discussions have taken place to conclude the exams between the last week of November and mid-December. The final decision will be made in the central admission committee meeting on either 7 or 12 October.
This year, the admission test is returning to its normal schedule. In previous years, the timeline was irregular due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the July mass uprising. Typically, the admission process begins immediately after the HSC results are published.
Professor Mostafizur Rahman, coordinator of last year’s online admission committee, is stepping down. He will be succeeded by Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Islam of the Institute of Information Technology. Dr. Islam stated that the central admission committee will finalize everything in its early October meeting. After that, the admission application process will begin alongside the HSC result publication, with plans to complete admissions by December.
Sources said that political rallies and gatherings around the February election could create difficulties for students. Therefore, the university is taking steps to complete this year’s admission process more swiftly.
