The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has initiated major changes in secondary-level ICT textbooks to provide students with contemporary technology knowledge.
From the 2027 academic year, the textbooks will include artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cybersecurity, media literacy, and other modern topics.
Recent workshops with university professors, ICT experts, and experienced teachers finalized the updated content. Students in grades 6–9 will have hands-on learning in AI, robotics, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, virtual reality, nanotechnology, smart homes, and satellite internet.
Practical topics such as cloud computing, digital content creation, video editing, and presentation skills will also be taught. Cybersecurity awareness, online bullying, fake news, hacking, phishing, and spam protection will be included. ICT law and digital safety basics will also be provided.
Structural changes include new programming chapters in grades 6–8. Grades 9–10 will feature additional topics, including the Fourth Industrial Revolution, virtual reality, digital footprint, media literacy, and database management.
Educators note that the long delay in updating ICT textbooks caused students to lag in technological skills. The new initiative will help students align with the modern world. NCTB officials said the updated curriculum prepares students for a technology-driven future, with phased implementation planned from the next academic year.
