Hajiganj: Over 32,000 People to Receive More Than 280 Million Taka in Social Welfare Assistance

In Hajiganj Upazila, under social welfare programs, a total of 32,106 beneficiaries are receiving various social security and welfare benefits amounting to 283,840,000 Taka.

This information was shared on Saturday (January 3) morning during a discussion session organized at the Hajiganj Upazila e-Center on the occasion of National Social Welfare Day. The session was addressed by Upazila Social Welfare Officer Shahadat Hossain.

On the day, a colorful rally was held in the morning under the slogan “Self-Inquiry.” Following the rally, a discussion session was held, with Chief Guest Hajiganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ibn-e-Al Zayed in attendance.

The session, presided over by Upazila Social Welfare Officer Shahadat Hossain, was also attended by Hajiganj Press Club President Khalekuzzaman Shamim, Freedom Fighter Mofizul Islam, Bonful Songho General Secretary Monir Hossain, Hajiganj Press Club General Secretary Enayet Mozumder, and representatives from various professional and social groups.

During the session, it was announced that currently, 16,747 people in the Upazila are receiving old-age allowance, 8,388 are receiving widow allowance, and 6,841 are receiving disability allowance. In addition, 213 members of disadvantaged communities, 186 members of the Bede community, 119 retired persons, and 37 Bede students are included in the assistance program.

Furthermore, 109 students with disabilities receive educational support, 64 individuals have received patient welfare assistance, and 14 organizations are under the Social Welfare Committee. In addition, two voluntary organizations, 122 orphanage students, and 98 individuals suffering from cancer and other complex diseases receive assistance. Additionally, two beggars have been brought under a rehabilitation program.
