Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has alleged that public expectations from the new government and parliament have already declined after the first session of parliament. He said the government is acting against public aspirations instead of reflecting them.

Speaking as the chief guest at a two-day training program organized by Barishal city Jamaat on Saturday, he made these remarks.

He said the government ignored the large public opinion expressed in a referendum, creating political instability. He also claimed that recent government decisions are deepening political crisis and distancing representatives from the people.

He alleged that BNP is moving toward one-party rule by deviating from pre-election promises. According to him, the current structure retains excessive power in the hands of the prime minister, continuing previous constitutional frameworks.

He further said that expectations created through student-public movements have not been fulfilled after coming to power. He warned that if state institutions remain centralized under one authority, politicization will increase.

He added that Jamaat-e-Islami does not believe in violent politics, which is why it accepted election results, but warned that ignoring public opinion could worsen the situation.

He also expressed hope that the upcoming budget session starting June 7 would include a referendum-related bill.
