Five killed, including four from the same family, in BRTC bus and ambulance head-on collision in Faridpur

Five people, including four members of the same family, were killed in a head-on collision between a BRTC bus and an ambulance in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur. The accident occurred on Sunday morning in Shankarpasha area.

The deceased were identified as Almagir Hossain (58), Jahangir Hossain (62), their father Abdul Wahed Molla, Almagir’s wife Khushi Begum (45), and Jahangir’s wife Mazeda Begum (50), all residents of Balia village under Mofizpur union of Madaripur Sadar upazila. Ambulance driver Kawsar Hossain (22), son of Shahjahan Matubbar of Madaripur Sadar area, was also killed.

According to police and local sources, the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound ambulance collided head-on with a Faridpur-bound BRTC bus, killing several people on the spot. The ambulance was badly damaged, causing panic on the road.

After receiving the news, members of Bhanga Highway Police and Fire Service rushed to the scene and conducted rescue operations. The bodies were recovered and the injured were sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Bhanga Highway Police Station OC Helal Uddin said five people died on the spot in the collision, and the injured are being treated in hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The tragedy cast a shadow of grief over the area. The loss of multiple members of the same family led to heartbreaking scenes of mourning at hospitals and homes.
