At the inauguration of the “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Exchange Corridor” and “Education Expo 2026,” Education Minister Ehsanul Haque Milon said the government is seriously considering approving new universities to expand higher education in the country. He said that alongside the existing 116 universities, several new universities are awaiting approval.

Speaking as chief guest at the event held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka, the minister said improving higher education quality is a top priority for the government. He added that 57 existing universities are already providing quality education.

He emphasized strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan in education and research, saying it would provide students international-standard opportunities. He encouraged Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education opportunities in Pakistan.

The minister said several Pakistani universities provide internationally recognized education and Bangladeshi students can study there based on merit, sometimes even free of cost with government support.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, said educational and cultural exchanges would strengthen bilateral relations. He announced that a 10-day education expo would be held in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, and Chattogram.

He added that memorandums of understanding between universities of both countries would create new opportunities in higher education and research.

The event was attended by educators, university representatives, diplomats, and students. Organizers said students are getting direct information about admissions, scholarships, and research opportunities from various universities at the expo.
