Partial gas supply has resumed from the Summit LNG terminal. At 6:10pm on Friday (August 14), the terminal began supplying approximately 110 million cubic feet of gas to the national gas transmission system.

In a press release, Summit LNG said the gas supply would be increased gradually. The terminal is expected to reach a supply capacity of approximately 550 million cubic feet per day at around 2am on Saturday (August 15).

The company said that an increase in gas supply from the Summit LNG terminal would improve gas availability in various sectors, including industry and power generation. This could help keep production activities running normally while also reducing some of the pressure on the country’s overall energy system.

Summit LNG said operations are being conducted safely and reliably while taking into account the technical capabilities of both the terminal and the national gas transmission system. At the same time, efforts are underway to gradually increase gas supply and utilize the terminal’s maximum capacity.

According to the company, adequate and uninterrupted energy supply is extremely important for maintaining production in the industrial sector, creating new employment opportunities and accelerating economic activities.

Summit LNG also said it would continue working in coordination with Petrobangla and relevant government agencies to strengthen the country’s energy security and reduce the gas shortage.

Once the terminal reaches its full supply capacity, additional gas will be added to the national gas system. This is expected to provide some relief, particularly to gas-dependent industries and power generation plants.
