Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono officially joined Spanish superclub Real Madrid on Thursday, August 14, the day he turned 18. At the signing ceremony, club president Florentino Pérez was present. Mastantuono was assigned the number 30 jersey.
Having shown exceptional football talent from a young age, Real Madrid secured him on a six-year contract. At his first press conference as a Real player, Mastantuono immediately impressed fans by praising Lionel Messi, saying, “Messi is the best footballer in the world. As an Argentine, he is the greatest to me.”
He also mentioned other Argentine stars who played for Real Madrid, stating, “I didn’t get to watch Alfredo Di Stéfano, but I have followed Ángel Di María and Gonzalo Higuaín.”
Expressing his feelings about joining the club, Mastantuono said, “Being part of Real Madrid fulfills my dream. I feel full of energy and will always give my best on the field to win matches and make the fans happy.”
He added, “Real Madrid is the best club in the world. I want to leave my mark here and make the supporters proud of my performances. Whatever position the coach plays me in, I will always give my all.”
While Real Madrid fans have high hopes for Mastantuono’s talent, his praise for Messi has caused a mixed reaction among some supporters.
