Asma Akter Liza, a student of the Management Department at Dhaka University (DU), passed away on Friday, August 15, while undergoing treatment at Green Life Medical College Hospital in the capital. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after suddenly falling ill.
Liza, a student of the 2019–20 academic session, had a heart tumor and fluid accumulation in her lungs. She was a resident of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall and originally from Natore.
A fellow student said that Liza became suddenly unwell on Thursday afternoon. She was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where her heart tumor was diagnosed. Later, she was transferred to Green Life Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
The principal of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Dr. Aleya Begum, confirmed the news, saying, “One of our students has passed away. I am at the hospital.”
According to another student, Dedi Al Farhad, Liza’s funeral prayers will be held at the central mosque after Friday prayers, after which she will be buried in her hometown in Natore.
Both students and the hall administration expressed deep sorrow and grief over her untimely demise.
