As the US-Israel war on Iran enters its fifth week, tensions have escalated further. An Iranian drone attack caused a fire at a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport. At the same time, a fire was reported at a facility in Bahrain.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority, said that Iranian drones and affiliated groups struck the airport’s fuel storage, triggering a large fire. Emergency services quickly responded and began controlling the fire. No casualties have been reported, though infrastructural damage occurred.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior stated that a company’s facility caught fire due to an Iranian attack. Fire services worked quickly to extinguish the fire, though the name of the affected company was not disclosed.

Elsewhere, near Doha, Qatar, an oil-carrying vessel was hit by an unidentified weapon. The UK’s maritime security agency reported that the hull was damaged, but the crew remained safe.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defense reported that of three cruise missiles fired from Iran, two were intercepted, while one struck a vessel, and its 21 crew members were safely evacuated.

In the UAE’s Fujairah region, drone interception resulted in debris causing the death of a Bangladeshi citizen, according to state media. Saudi Arabia reported intercepting multiple drones entering its airspace, with no casualties reported.

A UN report stated that the ongoing conflict could reduce GDP in Arab countries by 3.7% to 6%, equivalent to losses of approximately $120–194 billion.

US President Donald Trump stated that US forces may withdraw within the next two to three weeks, but there is no clear timeline for ending the conflict. Iran has indicated that it does not want war, rejecting the proposed US ceasefire plan as ‘unreasonable’ and demanding compensation for war-related damages.

Overall, the cycle of attacks and counterattacks in the Gulf region is raising serious security concerns, which could significantly impact global energy markets and the economy.
