PNN News Desk:

Coupang, South Korea’s leading e-commerce company, announced that at least 165,000 more users’ personal data was exposed without authorization in connection with a major data breach reported last year. The government-led investigation into the matter continues.

On Thursday (February 5), Coupang stated that the newly identified data leak involved customers’ names, phone numbers, and addresses. However, no financial transactions, login credentials, email, order history, or access passwords were exposed.

Previously, in November, Coupang reported that a significant cybersecurity breach had put the personal information of over 33 million customers at risk, prompting ongoing government investigation.

The company clarified that the newly discovered data leak is not a separate incident but part of the same breach reported last November. All affected users have already been notified as per government instructions.

Concerns over data security have increased in South Korea, raising questions about online platform safety. Authorities and stakeholders are closely monitoring what actions will be taken following the investigation.
