A fresh discussion and controversy have arisen over alleged corruption at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The remarks of BCB director and CCDM president Adnan Rahman Dipon have sparked intense debate in the cricket community. In an interview with a private TV channel, Dipon claimed that corruption during the interim board exceeded the long-standing corruption of former president Nazmul Hasan Papon.

Nazmul Hasan Papon resigned as BCB president in August 2024. Following this, former national cricketer Faruk Ahmed took charge as board president under the Ministry of Sports. During his nearly nine-month tenure, several irregularities and corruption allegations surfaced, including widespread discussions around match-fixing in the 2024 BPL.

In May 2025, former captain Aminul Islam Bulbul became BCB president. Six months into his tenure, the board continues to face challenges, including internal disagreements, protests from first-division clubs, and incidents such as theft of pitch soil.

Addressing journalists, Bulbul rejected Dipon’s remarks, stating, “This is his personal opinion. I reject this statement.” He also clarified that no special audit or investigative process is ongoing at BCB currently, though the board has identified areas for improvement over the past 15 years.

Bulbul added that BCB is undergoing a transitional period, where long-standing irregularities are now becoming visible. He emphasized that Dipon’s allegations are entirely personal opinions.

Regarding the upcoming BPL, Bulbul outlined his priorities: organizing a fair and transparent tournament and strengthening the national team’s foundation ahead of the T20 World Cup.
