College Student Killed After Being Hit by Soil-Loaded Trolley in Kalaroa

In a tragic road accident in Kalaroa Municipality, Satkhira, a college student named Suraiya Khatun (18) was killed. The accident occurred at around 9 am on Saturday (January 3) on the road near Betrabati High School, Kalaroa.

The deceased, Suraiya Khatun, was a resident of Salimpur village of Kalaroa Upazila and the daughter of Oziar Rahman Gazi. She was studying in the 12th grade of the Humanities Department at Kalaroa Government College.

According to the police and local eyewitnesses, Suraiya was riding an e-rickshaw towards the Upazila Sadar. When she reached in front of Betrabati High School, a fast-moving soil-loaded trolley coming from the opposite direction struck the e-rickshaw violently. She was thrown from the vehicle, and the trolley ran over her.

Local residents immediately rescued her and took her to Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex. When her condition worsened, the doctors referred her to Satkhira Medical College Hospital. However, she was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency department.

OC of Kalaroa Police Station, H.M. Shaheen, confirmed the incident and stated that necessary legal steps would be taken after discussions with the family of the deceased.
