A “Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026” has been held at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) to raise public awareness about dengue prevention, keep the university campus clean and ensure a safe and healthy educational environment for students.
The campaign was conducted on Monday, September 14, the second day of the two-day programme organised by the Bangladesh Agricultural University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal as part of a central programme.
As part of the campaign, mosquito-control spray was applied to drains and other abandoned and unhygienic areas around the university’s administrative building, TSC and various faculty areas where mosquitoes could potentially breed. At the same time, initiatives were taken to raise awareness about accumulated garbage and conditions conducive to mosquito breeding in different parts of the campus.
University teachers and officials concerned were present at the programme. They included Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr GM Mujibor Rahman, Assistant Proctor Professor Dr Kazi Farhad Kadir, Provost of Shaheed Shamsul Haque Hall Professor Dr Md Abul Manzur Khan, Provost of Shahjalal Hall Professor Dr Md Badiuzzaman Khan and Provost of Maulana Bhashani Hall Professor Dr Mohammad Ashik-e Rabbani.
Professor Dr Md Mahmudul Alam of the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics was also present at the programme.
The organisers said that preventing the spread of dengue requires more than relying solely on medication or mosquito-control activities. Keeping the campus environment clean and destroying mosquito breeding grounds are also essential. They called on students and everyone in the university community to remain aware and responsible in this regard.
The organisers expressed hope that cleanliness and public awareness activities would continue in the future to protect the campus from the risk of dengue.
