Ahead of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, European football is set for several thrilling matches that will decide the semi-final lineup of the season.
Barcelona will face Atlético Madrid at the Estadio Metropolitano in the Spanish capital. Trailing 2–0 from the first leg, the Catalan side faces a very difficult task.
In the first match, goals from Julián Álvarez’s brilliant free-kick and Alexander Sørloth secured Atlético’s win. Barcelona’s young defender Pau Cubarsí’s red card created a major setback for Hansi Flick’s team. A remarkable performance will now be required to turn things around.
At the same time in England, Liverpool will face PSG at Anfield. Despite being 2–0 down from the first leg, the Reds are confident of making history at home.
In Paris, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué scored, leaving Liverpool helpless. However, Anfield’s European nights are famous for dramatic comebacks, including the unforgettable win against Barcelona. Liverpool now hopes to draw inspiration from that memory, with Mohamed Salah expected to play a key role.
Tomorrow, Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena in Germany. Bayern lead 2–1 from the first leg.
Harry Kane and Luis Díaz gave Bayern the advantage, but a late goal from Kylian Mbappé brought Real Madrid back into the tie. Although Bayern are strong at home, Real Madrid’s Champions League experience makes them a dangerous opponent.
Arsenal will host Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal lead 1–0 from the first leg.
Arsenal need only a draw to reach the semi-finals, but recent league defeats have put them under some pressure. Sporting CP will try to overturn history and make a comeback.
