In Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur, the body of an auto-rickshaw driver was recovered by police two days after he went missing. The body was found on Saturday afternoon in a pile of sand in a betel garden located in the Patawari Road Head area of Sonapur Union.

The deceased has been identified as Sohag Hossain (30), son of Tajul Islam from Lalgazi Mizi Bari in the same area. He worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.

According to family sources, Sohag left his home on the morning of the 13th parliamentary elections, Thursday, and was missing ever since. Despite searching in various locations, his family could not locate him. Two days later, his body was discovered in a sand pile in a betel garden near their house.

Sohag’s brother stated that they had no known public enemies. However, he was reportedly involved in online gambling, and the family fears that a dispute related to this might have led to his murder.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for postmortem. The incident has left the deceased's wife and mother in shock, with both falling ill.

Shahin Mia, Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Police Station, stated that preliminary investigation suggests it may be a homicide. A case is being prepared, and investigations to identify those involved are ongoing.
