Bank Employee Missing in Bhairab Found Dead

In Bhairab Upazila of Kishoreganj, the body of a Janata Bank official was recovered after being missing for four days, causing widespread shock in the area. On Wednesday (March 4) at 7:30 pm, the body was found in a bush near the railway line in the Kalikaprasad area of the upazila’s BSC industrial zone.

The deceased, Alamgir (full name not known), worked at the Bhairab branch of Janata Bank. According to police and family sources, Alamgir was transferred from a Dhaka branch in August last year to join the Bhairab branch. About five years ago, he married Taslima Akter, a primary school teacher from the Kalikaprasad area, and they have one child.

Taslima Akter said that on Sunday morning, Alamgir left home for work as usual but did not return by night. The family checked with the bank and learned that he had not gone to the office that day. Concern grew when his mobile phone was found to be switched off. After searching various places, a General Diary (GD) was filed at the police station that night.

After four days of disappearance, a few workers spotted a body in the bushes and informed authorities. Family members confirmed the identity and notified the police. Alamgir’s brother Wahiduzzaman and other relatives came from Shayestaganj, Habiganj, to Bhairab.

Wahiduzzaman claimed that his brother had no enemies and was not a person who would commit suicide. He suspects that this may have been a premeditated murder and demanded a proper investigation.

Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akad stated that a bottle was found near the body, preliminarily suspected to contain poison. There were minor injuries on one of the deceased’s legs, and it is believed that he died a few days ago. The exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report. The police said the case is being investigated thoroughly and all necessary steps are being taken to uncover the mystery of the death.
