Bangladesh began its Asian Games hockey qualifiers with an impressive win at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Field in Bangkok. In the opening match, they defeated Chinese Taipei 4-3, securing full three points.
From the start, both teams were evenly matched. In the fourth minute, Chinese Taipei scored to take the lead. Bangladesh quickly responded, with Ashraful Islam scoring from a penalty corner at the end of the first quarter to level the score at 1-1.
In the second quarter, Bangladesh increased their attacking intensity. In the 22nd minute, Ashraful Islam scored again from a penalty corner, giving Bangladesh the lead. In the third quarter, Amirul Islam added the team’s third goal, strengthening Bangladesh’s control of the game.
In the final quarter, Din Islam scored Bangladesh’s fourth goal in the 59th minute, securing victory. Chinese Taipei did not give up, scoring two late goals, reducing the margin, but Bangladesh maintained the lead to win the match.
This victory gave Bangladesh a confident start in the qualifiers. In their next match, they will face Sri Lanka, aiming to continue the winning momentum.
