Bangladesh Batting Collapse on Day One of Colombo Test: 220 Runs for 8 Wickets

Bangladesh faced a batting disaster on the first day of the Colombo Test. The day's play ended in the 71st over with Bangladesh losing 8 wickets for just 220 runs. Both before and after rain interruptions, Bangladesh batsmen repeatedly failed to build partnerships.

The day started disappointingly with opener Enamul Haque, who was dismissed for a duck after facing only 10 balls. Although batsmen like Sadman Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz showed some promise, none could extend their innings. Nazmul Hossain Shanto, the best performer in the Galle Test, also failed in this second Test. No Bangladesh batsman managed to score a fifty throughout the day, and most seemed to gift their wickets away.

On Thursday (June 26), Bangladesh will begin their innings with tail-enders Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain. Taijul remains unbeaten on 9 runs from 24 balls, and Ebadot on 5 runs from 5 balls. Their main goal will be to add some more runs to the team total. Whether Bangladesh can overcome this batting failure and bounce back on day two remains to be seen.
