Bangladesh Bank to review loans above 200 million BDT

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur announced that all loans exceeding 200 million BDT will be reviewed to ensure proper collateral. Any irregularities will hold the bank officials and board accountable.

Speaking at a seminar titled “Banking Sector Reform: Ways to Overcome Challenges,” he emphasized the importance of an independent Bangladesh Bank and noted ongoing bank consolidations and closures of financial institutions. Deposit protection for general depositors will be ensured, though institutional depositors may receive partial refunds.
